and so it begins

On Friday I attended orientation at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary here in Louisville. I will start classes tomorrow. At orientation we had a lunch/fellowship time and everybody at my table had lived overseas for a couple years. There was an immediate bond as we shared stories and nodded in agreement over cultural stress and transition. I met some of my professors, one of whom actual lives overseas and is just back in the states for a year. He actually knows some of the people I worked with and has visited my city.

My "before school starts to do list" is dwindling (although will keep me busy the rest of today). I am excited about my classes. I'm completely ready for the routine that comes with a school year. After the past year of being in transition and trying to figure out what would be next, I am ready and excited to be starting what is next and to have direction that I'm pursuing.

in other news... i'm still training for a shorter distance triathlon (1000 yd swim, 25 mile bike, 6.2 mile run) which I will do this coming weekend in springfield, OH. If any of you are in the area, feel free to come out. I would love to see you. Continuing training after finishing my half-ironman has been hard, but I have [mostly] stuck with my schedule. My brain keeps thinking, "it's half of what you just did, it will be easy". In reality I know it will still be 4 or more hours of hard work. So I press on.

Hope you all had great summers and are looking forward to what this new school year will bring you for as well.r
