I try to keep my training rides hilly so that i'll be better prepared for the terrain of the race. While I like the concept and overall outcome of training on hills, in the moment i'm not always a fan of the amount of work it takes to get to the top. I struggle through reminding myself that I can do this and its good for me. Then once I get there and enjoy the natural recovery of going downhill I think I have a quick thought of "oh, good, a little downhill". But then sometimes I reverse my route so what is usually downhill is now uphill uphill becomes down. Again, the uphills seem like never ending struggles and the downhills are almost too small to take note of.
Why is it that we are so quick to point out how hard our struggles are, but never put the same emphasis on thankfulness for times that are easy?
so as i've been pondering how my perspective changes how big a hill is, i've been thinking about how perspective changes our views of struggles and joys in our lives.
having trouble putting this into words, but it makes sense in my head.
